Dr. Michael Browning - Founder

Mike Browning, Ph.D. was born in Dallas, Texas and attended the University of Texas where he received a bachelor’s degree in English Literature. He then spent 5 years trying to become a filmmaker in Los Angeles and he sold shoes to pay his bills. He became very interested in how the brain processed visual images and abandoned filmmaking to start graduate school in Neurobiology in 1974. He received a Ph.D. in Neurobiology from the University of California at Irvine in 1979. He subsequently did a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale and Rockefeller University from 1980 to 1986 with Dr. Paul Greengard who won the Nobel Prize in 2002.

Dr. Browning is the founder of PhosphoSolutions, LLC. He is internationally known for his studies of protein phosphorylation and memory. In addition to his research and development work with PhosphoSolutions, Dr. Browning also was a professor of Neuroscience and Pharmacology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center (1987-2009) where he studied the biological bases of memory and how these processes are altered by aging and also by alcohol.

Dr. Browning has a wife and two grown sons. In his spare time he enjoys golf, spending time with his family, and relaxing in his hot tub.

Kristin Nixon - President

Kristin is originally from Miami, Florida. She attended the University of Colorado in Boulder and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology. She began her career in research in Dr. Mike Browning’s neuroscience lab at CU Denver, studying molecular mechanisms of learning and memory. To aid their studies, the lab developed antibodies internally, primarily against NMDA receptors, and Kristin became responsible for antibody production. In 2001, Kristin left the university to help Dr. Browning launch PhosphoSolutions.

She enjoys cooking and all things food and drink, travel (especially relating to food and wine), and spending time with her miniature dachshund, Macy.

What makes us different?

  1. If we attempt to make an antibody and it doesn’t work, we throw it away. We never sell an antibody that we can’t get to work in our hands.
  2. Our commitment to strict validation standards ensures a clean signal in endogenous protein and verifies phosphospecificity for relevant products.
  3. We are dedicated to reproducibility. Look for our “Pooled Serum” icon. Each antibody with this icon is purified from its own pool of serum to ensure lot-to-lot consistency.
  4. We guarantee our antibodies. If you can’t get the antibody to work in your application, we will provide a 100% refund.
  5. When making a custom antibody, we provide personalized customer support from start to finish, from peptide design, to purification, to characterization.
