The antigen is a phosphopeptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding the phospho-Ser234 of rabphilin 3A.
The antibody is prepared from pooled rabbit serum by affinity purification via sequential chromatography on phospho- and dephospho-peptide affinity columns.
Biological Significance: ExpandCollapse
Rabphilin-3A is a peripheral membrane protein that binds Ca2+ and phospholipids and is attached to synaptic vesicle membranes (Geppert et al., 1994; Li et al., 1994). The expression of rabphilin 3A is reduced in an animal model of Huntington’s disease (Smith et al., 2005). Rabphilin can be phosphorylated at Ser234 by both CAM kinase II and PKA and this phosphorylation has been suggested to regulate neuronal activity during development in a synapse-specific manner (Fykse et al., 1995; Foletti and Scheller, 2001).
