Rabphilin 3A (Ser234)
Rabphilin-3A is a peripheral membrane protein that binds Ca2+ and phospholipids and is attached to synaptic vesicle membranes (Geppert et al., 1994; Li et al., 1994). The expression of rabphilin 3A is reduced in an animal model of Huntington’s disease (Smith et al., 2005). Rabphilin can be phosphorylated at Ser-234 by both CAM kinase II and PKA and this phosphorylation has been suggested to regulate neuronal activity during development in a synapse-specific manner (Fykse et al., 1995; Foletti and Scheller, 2001).
Antigen Affinity Purified from Pooled Serum
Synthetic phospho-peptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding Ser234 of rat rabphilin 3A, conjugated to keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH).
Storage at -20°C is recommended, as aliquots may be taken without freeze/thawing due to presence of 50% glycerol. Stable for at least 1 year at -20°C.
Prepared from pooled rabbit serum by affinity purification via sequential chromatography on phospho and non-phosphopeptide affinity columns.
10 mM HEPES (pH 7.5), 150 mM NaCl, 100 µg per ml BSA and 50% glycerol.

Specific for endogenous levels of the ~82 kDa rabphilin protein phosphorylated at Ser234. Immunolabeling is blocked by preadsorption with the phosphopeptide used as antigen, but not by the corresponding non-phosphopeptide.
